Why do you get up every morning? What makes you want work and achieve at high levels in your life? It can be any number of different things. For some people it’s their husband/wife, kids, and for others it could be material possessions, charity, anything really.
As you business plan for the coming year at the top of that plan should be your “Big Why.” If your Big Why” is your family or spouse write down everything that you would like to give them or doer for them over the next 12 months. It should be everything from spending more time together (a date night), to things you would like to provide for them like a vacation, a new car, a house…. anything. Dig deep here, get emotional about it.
Now write down exactly how much money it would take to do that. If you have to call a travel agent , car dealer etc… or add up all of your credit card debt do so. After you write down that number think of what it coud do for you and your family. What could this mean to your loved ones, would you sleep better knowing your debt free, or would having a new car that’s reliable with a warranty help? What emotional impact would achieving your goal(s) have for you?
Until you know why you get up every day and what positive impact your success can have on yourself and on others the rest of your plan won’t matter much. Now attach yourself to the outcome, make failure not an option.
In my next post we will dive into how to financially achieve your “Big Why.”
